Hormones

The Basics

Throughout the years of providing exceptional hormone replacement therapy and the additional health and wellness options that we offer you, we’ve discovered that the effects of aging don’t have to go untreated. We no longer have to accept aging and its many side effects.

Testosterone

Primary sex hormone for men but is produced by woman. For both sexes, testosterone provides the ability to maintain lean muscle mass and strength while at the same time reducing body fat. This hormone stimulates libido, preventing bone loss, healing, and skin integrity. Optimal levels help improve both mood and memory. Contrary to popular belief in the medical field, this hormone reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, men with normal levels are actually at lower risk for developing prostate cancer.

Estrogen

This hormone is responsible for the development of the female body and is also needed by men. Estradiol is the most important form of estrogen because it protects against heart disease, stroke, and dementia. It also plays a role in preventing osteoporosis, improving libido, preventing vaginal atrophy/dryness, and other symptoms associated with menopause.

Progesterone

A female hormone known for regulating the menstrual cycle and pregnancy. Many people are unaware of how beneficial this hormone is for promoting restful sleep and treating symptoms of depression and anxiety. It can also be protective against certain forms of breast cancer.

DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone)

The most abundant steroid hormone in our body needed to form the other hormones. Research has shown that healthy levels of this hormone support our immune and nervous systems. In addition, DHEA has been shown to be a potent antioxidant and improves insulin sensitivity for better blood sugar control. DHEA is currently being used as a therapy to treat autoimmune diseases such as lupus.

Thyroid

The thyroid gland regulates our metabolism and proper growth and development. It plays a critical role in protein synthesis and normal calcium absorption. Unfortunately, many people suffer from low functioning thyroid gland causing symptoms of fatigue, weight gain, temperature intolerance, hair loss, and depression. Symptoms of thyroid insufficiency can be treated with proper analysis of full thyroid function and ensuring the thyroid gland's hormones are optimal.

Melatonin

The hormone produced in the pineal gland in our brain regulates our sleep cycle. Healthy deep REM sleep is needed to maintain an intact immune system. Many people are unaware that melatonin affects more than sleep; it is also a potent antioxidant, helping fight off chronic disease and can improve mood.

Vitamin D

This hormone is needed to properly absorb calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium, which are vital for bone health. There is increasing evidence it is also crucial in reducing the risk of diabetes, improving gastrointestinal health, and reducing the risk of developing cancer.
